THE DEFY EXTREME E “DESERT X PRIX” SERIES FROM ZENITH AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SECOND SEASON OF EXTREME E<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Extreme E is gearing up for its second season, and Zenith is introducing its first special series, DEFY Extreme Carbon, featuring redesigned elements of the electric car racing championship. The exclusive series will feature a limited edition for each race of the season, starting with the Desert X Prix in the evolving futuristic city of NEOM. NEOM is being built on the unique landscape of northwestern Saudi Arabia along the Red Sea coast with its vast sand dunes and undeveloped, uninhabited mountainous areas, creating the foundation for an ideal standoff in a wet and extreme environment.<\/p>\n

It’s time to warm up the electric motors. After a successful first season with Extreme E as a founding partner and Official Timekeeper, Zenith continues to actively participate in the second season of the first Electric Car Racing World Championship. The second season promises to be exciting, with more teams, new destinations, and active environmental activities. For each of this year’s 5 Extreme E races, starting with the Desert X Prix in Neoma, Saudi Arabia, Zenith will present 5 special and exclusive series of DEFY Extreme chronographs with 1\/100 second accuracy, inspired by the X Prix off-road tracks.\u00a0The final touch of the Extreme E is the DEFY Extreme E “Desert X Prix”, the first series dedicated to a specific race, in a waterproof and shockproof case inspired by the extreme rally conditions and featuring various redesigned racing elements from the first season. The body coating is made from recycled E-grip tires, and the platinum coating is made from parts of the Extreme E racing tarpaulin.<\/p>\n

Ideally adapted to the world of motorsport and, in particular, to the adrenaline-fueled off-road tracks of the Extreme E, where every gram can affect the performance of the Odyssey 21 car moving through wild and often unforgiving terrain, the DEFY Extreme E “Desert X Prix” series is made of lightweight but very durable carbon fiber, including the crown and chronograph buttons. The button protection system, as well as the twelve-sided bezel, are made of sandblasted titanium, which emphasizes the bold and angular shape of the case.\u00a0The open multi-layered dial of the monolithic case is accented in deep yellow and beige, the official colors of the Desert X Prix race, reminiscent of the huge sand dunes of Saudi Arabia’s largest desert. Through the dial, as well as the back cover of the case, the chronograph’s fast, automatic and high-frequency calibre is partially visible, ensuring time measurement accuracy up to 1\/100 of a second, with two trigger modules.: The first one is responsible for the timing part of the mechanism and operates at a frequency of 5 Hz (36,000 pcs\/h), and the second ensures the operation of the chronograph and operates at a frequency of 50 Hz (360,000 pcs\/h). The movement is also visible through the sapphire crystal back cover with the Desert X Prix logo.<\/p>\n

The DEFY Extreme E series watch comes with a rubber strap containing elements from the recycled Continental tires that raced in the first season. Matching the Desert X dial with sandy yellow accents, the Velcro strap features a black rubber centerpiece with a yellow rubber insert with imitation Cordura material in a circle.\u00a0The DEFY Extreme E “Desert X Prix” series is offered with two additional black rubber straps and black Velcro straps, which can be easily replaced without using any tools, using an original and intuitive quick belt replacement mechanism located on the back cover of the case.<\/p>\n

The rugged DEFY Extreme chronograph, accurate to 1\/100 of a second, has already proven its ability to withstand even the harshest challenges during the inaugural season of the EXTREME E Electric Car Racing Championship. The DEFY Extreme watch is now available in a distinctly sporty carbon fiber version, striking in its style and lightness. Often used in the automotive and aviation industries, carbon fiber has a unique set of characteristics that simply cannot be compared with metals. The open multi-layered dial is decorated in bright colors inspired by the color schemes used in the EXTREME E “X Prix” races.<\/div>\n
