The Audemars Piguet brand has joined forces with American singer, guitarist and watch collector John Meyer to design the latest model of the limited edition Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar watch, equipped with a 5134 self-winding caliber.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In this project, Meyer applied his intuition to create an expressive creation made of 750 white gold, in which the aesthetic effect of Royal Oak is combined with the sophistication of the perpetual calendar function.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Working closely together, John Meyer and the AP specialists have created a magnificent dial, the texture and grandeur of which add additional depth to the perception of the watch complexity that has been at the origins of the Audemars Piguet universe since its very beginning. All the details of the firmament are harmoniously matched to each other, creating the effect of infinity.<\/p>\n

The new shimmering finish embodied Meyer’s vision of a crystal sky. The elements of the relief pattern resemble irregularly shaped crystals, which, with their sharp corners and edges, give the watch depth and radiance. To achieve the required level of detail and complexity, it was necessary to form the stamp atom by atom in the process of metal deposition using electroplating technology.<\/p>\n

The Royal Oak with the John Mayer Perpetual Calendar Limited Edition is the latest limited edition with the 5134 Caliber, which became the final chord in the history of the movement, which dates back to 1978, when the 2100\/2800 Caliber was released \u2014 at that time the world’s thinnest self\u2014winding watch with a perpetual calendar. At the height of the quartz crisis, this striking 3.95 mm thick movement contributed to the revival of classic watch complications at Audemars Piguet and in the industry as a whole.<\/p>\n

The 5134 caliber, introduced in 2015, made it possible to adapt the perpetual calendar mechanism to a larger case diameter of 41 mm (Model 26574), while maintaining a thickness of only 4.3 mm. Introduced on the first Royal Oak model with a 41 mm Perpetual Calendar (ref. 26574) with its new dynamic aesthetic, this mechanism has re-drawn attention to this top-level complication, which over time has played a significant role in shaping the Audemars Piguet world.<\/p>\n
