A new stage in the development of the Chroma concept, first introduced in 2022.<\/em><\/p>\n

Zenith continues to develop the Defy Extreme high-frequency chronograph line based on El Primero movements. The brand’s two new products combine the aggressive silhouette of the Defy Extreme with the conceptual use of color in the Defy Extreme Chroma model series, first introduced in 2022.<\/p>\n

If the previous novelties of this series were distinguished by ceramic cases, then the novelties combine ceramics and titanium. The watch received a multi-faceted case with a diameter of 45 mm, familiar to fans of the Defy Extreme line. In one case, it is made of titanium with micro-jet treatment and a dark coating. In the other, matt\u2013polished titanium is combined with white ceramic elements (bezel, crown, protective pads for chronograph buttons). This combination adds visual contrast to the watch and makes it comfortable to wear by reducing weight.<\/p>\n

The skeletonized watch face offers a view of the layered structure of the caliber El Primero 9004. The bridges of the mechanism are treated with a colored PVD coating, and the rhodium-plated hour markers are filled with a “rainbow” varnish. For better readability in this maze of colored details, the rhodium-plated arrows are treated with Super-LumiNova.<\/p>\n

The visual anchor on the dial is the central second hand with a rotation speed of 1 revolution per second. The minute scale is grouped around it (at the “3 o’clock” mark) and the chronograph’s second (“6 o’clock”) counters, as well as the small second hand (“9 o’clock”) and the chronograph’s power reserve indicator (“12 o’clock”). Each counter has its own color, which is highlighted by the corresponding color of the arrows on them.<\/p>\n

Of the important characteristics of the caliber El Primero 9004, it is worth emphasizing the double trigger mechanism. One part of it operates at a frequency of 5 Hz and serves the needs of the basic mechanism, while the second part operates at a frequency of 50 Hz, allowing the chronograph to measure time with an accuracy of 1\/100 of a second. Separate winding drums provide stable torque for each gear train. The power reserve is 50 hours.<\/p>\n

Both models come in three “trim levels”: with a matching rubber strap, a titanium bracelet, or a black Velcro strap. The Defy Extreme quick-change system, which is included as standard, makes it easy to change the straps to the bracelet and back without using additional tools.<\/p>\n
