The new collection Intergalactic<\/strong> by Richard Mille<\/strong> features these four darkened models studded with diamonds. According to Richard Mill, the RM 07-01 Intergalactic collection is an invitation to travel through time and space, returning to the moment when the stars first appeared in the night sky.<\/p>\n

This is not the first time Richard Mille has dazzled with diamonds. But the novelties differ in the use of materials (carbon fiber) and the technique of fixing precious stones (rose gold teeth). This innovative combination helps to tell the story of that time in a new way.<\/p>\n

The collection consists of four pieces \u2014 “Bright Night”, “Starry Night”, “Dark Night” and “Foggy Night”, each of which has a TPT carbon case encrusted with diamonds, which are fixed with “claws” made of red gold. The cases of all four new Richard Mille RM 07-01 Intergalactic watches repeat the brand’s signature tonneau shape.<\/p>\n

The watch is made of TPT carbon fiber with 18k rose gold inserts. The cases themselves have a diameter of 31.4 mm and a thickness of 11.85 mm, and the total distance between the lugs is 45.66 mm, making them one of the most compact models currently offered by Richard Mille.<\/p>\n

Carbon TPT is a carbon fiber composite material consisting of multiple layers of parallel filaments that are created by separating carbon fibers. From there, the fibers are impregnated with a composite matrix and woven at a 45-degree angle between the layers, and then combined using heat and pressure to create a solid block of material that can then be machined on a CNC machine and molded into various body components. Sapphire glasses protect both the front and back sides of the three-piece case, and the various components are held together with Class 5 titanium screws that pass through the three components of the case and fasten them together with nitrile O-rings to ensure 50 meters of water resistance.<\/p>\n

“It all started with a vision of an explosion of stars taking place in the black darkness. We wanted to rethink our approach to anchoring gems as a way to intensively combine elements,” says Cecile Gena, Creative Director and Director of Development at Richard Mille.<\/p>\n

Although they share a black background, each of these four models has its own distinctive features. The RM 07-01 Dark Night<\/strong> model, for example, was developed as an expression of the creation of constellations. The rose gold pins not only embody Richard Mille’s insight into securing precious stones. Their warm, polished glow also adds an element of connection, a reminder of how the ancients looked up at the stars in the sky to tell stories about the gods and how our universe came to be.<\/p>\n

Over time, our ancestors used the stars to navigate the world. Unlike the matte black textures of the case, dial, and bracelet, the diamonds RM 07-01 Starry Night shine and attract attention, symbolizing a sense of purpose and direction.<\/p>\n

The RM 07-01 Bright Night<\/strong> case is made of 18k rose gold with micro-jet treatment, which gives the watch a more radiant appearance. Finally, the RM 07-01 Misty Night model is decorated with 18k rose gold columns, presenting more thoughtful reflections on the firmament and the future. “Using teeth as decorative elements is an aesthetic approach that gradually highlights the explosion of light,” says Gena.<\/p>\n

Securing gems is a difficult task even at the best of times. In watchmaking, it is extremely difficult to find a way to attach diamonds in such a way that the light falls on the edges and makes the stones sparkle. Another problem is to ensure the safety of diamonds without disturbing the natural luster of precious stones.<\/p>\n

Using carbon TPT, Richard Mille’s craftsmen have set themselves a third task. Unlike gold, which allows the craftsman to form teeth to secure diamonds, the hardness of TPT carbon means that the rigger must use diamond cutters to process the settings. The use of polished 18k rose gold inserts not only solved the engineering problem, but also made it possible to create a new aesthetic innovation that allows stones of different sizes to be inserted into the case.<\/p>\n

Each watch from the Intergalactic collection has its own unique diamond pattern on the dial, as well as on the front and sides of the case. The moire effect of TPT carbon fiber makes every detail even more individual. While the velvety matte finish promotes a feeling of warmth and softness, TPT carbon is a very durable material that provides optimal protection for the mechanism. The watch is equipped with a CRMA2 calibre, a skeletonized titanium automatic movement with a clock and minute function and a variable geometry rotor.
