Last year, Zenith defied all odds by launching three new versions of its Defy line. In the new year, the world saw a new Defy. If such outstanding models as the Zenith Defy 21 Ultraviolet appeared in 2020, then in 2021 everything will become a little more mundane with the help of the new Zenith Defy 21 Urban Jungle. This watch features a green ceramic case, a green strap, and an openwork dial that showcases the very, very impressive El Primero 9004 automatic movement.<\/p>\n

Although there is nothing new about the watch in terms of case design, movement, or even strap, this model is the first for the brand: for the first time, Zenith placed the 9004 movement inside a green ceramic case. Zenith calls this color khaki green, and it can be seen on the case, back cover, and cordura-effect rubber strap. The strap is actually grey, with a green rubber insert that adds contrast.<\/p>\n

The skeletonized surface of the dial is decorated with matte black and matte silver counters, which complement the matte aesthetic of the Urban Jungle watch. The Zenith El Primero 9004 movement is the highest frequency chronograph produced today with the ability to count down to 1\/100 of a second, which is no small feat. The movement has two triggers: one for the watch and one for the chronograph, which works ten times faster than the movement itself, which displays the time.<\/p>\n

Although this model is actually an aesthetic design update rather than a mechanical one, it’s nevertheless nice to see that the brand continues to produce models featuring this monster from the family of watch movements.<\/p>\n
