The 1815 Tourbillon watch, a classic to the core, features a patented Lange movement with a stop second hand and a reset function \u2014 two practical devices designed to accurately set the time. Since tourbillons were invented to compensate for the effects of gravity on the oscillating system and improve running accuracy, Lange engineers came to the conclusion that a device designed to maintain the highest level of accuracy would benefit from the stop function of the second hand, providing accurate time setting to the second. Although second hand stop devices are no exception, embedding them in a complex tourbillon controller creates enormous difficulties and can reduce its performance. The patented Lange stop second hand mechanism, developed in 2008 for Cabaret Tourbillon, is a rarity in the world of tourbillons. To make it even easier to accurately set the time, the Tourbillon 1815 also features a practical reset function that returns the second hand to the zero position when the crown is pulled out, allowing you to accurately align the minute hand with the minute mark.<\/p>\n

The luxurious platinum case with a diameter of 39.5 mm and a height of 11.3 mm is the fifth version of the 1815 Tourbillon<\/strong> and the twelfth Lange model with a Grand Feu dial. First introduced in a limited edition platinum case (and an unlimited edition rose gold case) in 2014, the 1815 Tourbillon watch appeared in a spectacular Handwerkskunst edition with a shake\u2014effect dial, and again in a platinum case with a white enamel dial in 2018.<\/p>\n

The implementation of this mechanism is significantly superior to traditional solutions. Striving for continuous evolution, Lange engineers have equipped the traditional complication with two additional functions that become noticeable only upon closer inspection. The stop device of the tourbillon second hand allows you to stop the watch by pulling on the crown, and then set the time accurately. At the same time, the ZERO-RESET mechanism provides an instantaneous return of the second hand to the zero position. Thus, the minute hand is precisely aligned with the minute mark.<\/p>\n

From the point of view of aesthetic appeal, the 1815 tourbillon invites the observer on a fascinating journey through the depths of the clockwork. The tourbillon bridge and the upper part of the carriage are decorated with elaborate black polish, which attracts the eye. This technique involves using special abrasive pastes and sliding the part evenly by hand with precise pressure on the tin plate until the surface acquires a mirror-like sheen when viewed from a certain angle. On the other hand, it takes on a blue-black hue.<\/p>\n

The shining appearance of the Tourbillon<\/strong> 1815<\/strong> watch is the result of an elegant combination of a platinum case with a jet-black dial made in the Grand Fe technique, which is carefully worked out at the manufactory from the first to the last stage: this includes the preparation of the main dial in white gold grinding and application of enamel pigments, repeated firing and final surface treatment. In addition, the round hole of the tourbillon can be removed manually, a task that requires exceptional dexterity in order not to damage the enamel layer. The production of one enamel dial involves more than a hundred separate operations: it is not surprising that it takes several weeks to create each such work of art.<\/p>\n

The flawless surface, with its intriguing depth, elegantly frames the tourbillon and stands in stark contrast to the recessed markings and scale typical of the 1815 watch family. Other traditional design features include perfectly readable Arabic numerals and a peripheral minute scale in the form of railway tracks, reminiscent of the golden age of railway transportation in the 19th century. This development had a significant impact on the spread of high-precision mechanical watches.<\/p>\n

The rich, manufactured L102.1 caliber can be admired through the sapphire crystal back cover. It is equipped with a freely oscillating Lange balance spring and a traditional screw balance, which ensure excellent running accuracy throughout its 72-hour power reserve. The vibration frequency of the tourbillon is 21,600 half-vibrations per hour.<\/p>\n

In the center of the tourbillon, a diamond endstone, secured with a screw-down gold chateau, serves as a spectacular accent. The traditional element that A. Lange & S\u00f6hne once equipped with the most precious Class 1A watches is the brilliant accent of this precise mechanical masterpiece.<\/p>\n

Lange & S\u00f6hne. “At the same time, the 1815 tourbillon symbolizes our manufactory’s commitment to the continuous development of this tradition. Therefore, our watchmakers have taken the tourbillon, invented 200 years ago to improve the accuracy of movement, to a new level, giving it a modern interpretation. Thanks to the stop device of the second hand and the reset function to zero, the clock not only works with extreme accuracy, but can also be adjusted with exceptional accuracy.”<\/p>\n

With a case with a diameter of 39.5 mm and a height of 11.3 mm, the new stylish platinum version with a black enamel dial ensures a snug fit to the wrist. This is the fifth version of the 1815 Tourbillon and the twelfth Lange model with an enamel dial. In 2014, the watch was released in a platinum version in a limited edition of 30 copies, as well as in unlimited quantities in rose gold. Their successor, the 1815 Tourbillon Handwerkskunst, boasts an exceptional dial. The diamond watch was presented in a limited edition of 30 pieces in 2015. Three years later, the manufactory introduced the 1815 Tourbillon model in platinum with a white enamel dial.<\/p>\n

Like all Lange watches, the movement is assembled twice and decorated according to the brand’s strict standards. In addition to the patented technical features listed above, the hand-wound Lange L102.1 manufacturing Caliber demonstrates features introduced by the company’s founder Ferdinand Adolphe Lange, such as the classic \u00be platinum from rough nickel silver, screw-on gold shutters and a diamond endstone on the tourbillon axis. As for the technical characteristics, the mechanism operates with a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and has a power reserve of up to 72 hours.<\/p>\n
