Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Azzurro Power Control and Mille Miglia GTS Azzurro Chrono

Chopard Mille Miglia, as the brand’s most famous sports watch series, has seen a wide range of iterations over the years, interpreting and reinterpreting the distinctive style of the historic Italian road race that shares its name. 2020 brought with it a couple of new versions of this main series. The limited edition Mille Miglia GTS Azzurro Power Control and Mille Miglia GTS Azzurro Chrono offer beautiful and sporty new models in the line, linked together by the distinctive dial color “Azzurro Blue”.

Both the Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Azzurro Power Control and the GTS Azzurro Chrono start with a similar sports body design, with narrow bezels, side panels, and wide men’s ears. Both cases also feature a sleek automotive detail that helps capture the spirit of the car and ruin the visual profile of these tall wrist cases – a piston ring-shaped groove around the outside of the faceplate.

The Mille Miglia GTS Azzurro Power Control measures 43 mm and has a two-tone stainless steel and 18k rose gold case. For the Mille Miglia GTS Azzurro Chrono, Chopard chooses a 44 mm thick stainless steel case. The Mille Miglia GTS Azzurro Power Control also adds a rear display cover, allowing you to see the automatic mechanism inside. Of course, the blue Azzurro dials of both models are real centerpieces, with a rich cobalt tone that has depth and dynamism.

The texture and design of Chopard fonts really shine here: a ring with deep notches around the 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock extras, which adds visual depth, and a vintage dashboard indicator quality that helps these elements feel bigger than they really are. The soft, clear Arabic numerals of the auxiliary dials and the tachymeter faceplate help to anchor the visual experience in the warm Italian style of the 20th century Mille Miglia auto racing.

Like most models from the Mille Miglia GTS collection, the Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Azzurro Power control system is controlled by an internal mechanism, namely the 01.08-C automatic mechanism. Power reserve for 60 hours. On the other hand, the Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Azzurro Chrono uses the proven and accurate ETA 7750 automatic chronograph with a 48-hour power reserve.

While the Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Azzurro models aren’t the most dramatic possible changes to the Mille Miglia range, they take some of the best elements from past iterations and add a beautiful vintage blue sheen to the mix. Both are released in a limited series: Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Azzurro Power Control is limited to 500 copies, and Azzurro Chrono is limited to 750 copies. Both are currently available through authorized dealers, with the MSRP set at $9,990 and $7,630 respectively.
