The new F.P.Journe Quantième Perpetuel is a perpetual calendar with three apertures displaying the day of the week, month and date. The dial layout is made in the F.P.Journe company’s traditional style. Its main distinguishing feature is excellent readability and legibility. The appearance of the dial radiates harmony. Its decoration with two types of guilloche, a matte finish, frames around the apertures and a minute track in the form of a railway track correspond to the style codes of the manufactory. All the numbers are the same size, except for the three and nine. The leap year is marked in red on the indicator in the center. The apertures of the day of the week and the month are located at the top of the dial, and the double date aperture is at the bottom. The time is displayed using the central hour and minute hands. The power reserve indicator is located at 9 o’clock. The name of the manufacture and the model are indicated on the 3 o’clock clock.
The Quantième Perpetuel watch is available in an 18-carat gold or platinum 950 case, in two sizes, with a diameter of 40 or 42 mm. The watch is presented with a blue or silver dial with gold overlay numerals.
The instantaneous leap of the indication in the apertures is provided by a solution developed by F.P.Journey, which stores energy to instantly release it when the date, day of the week or month changes.
Quantième Perpetuel displays the exact date, automatically taking into account the variable length of the months and the leap year cycle, indicated by the central letter L in red.
To determine leap years in a perpetual calendar mechanism, a small cogwheel planetary wheel is used, connected to the mechanism of the month, which makes a complete revolution in four years. In the fourth year of the cycle, this mechanism shows February 29, and then immediately switches to March 1.
The FPJ 1300-3 18-carat rose gold automatic calibre with a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 half-vibrations per hour) is equipped with an offset rotor made of 22-carat gold and decorated with guilloche ornaments. It offers exceptional battery life of up to 160 hours (+/- 10 hours).
All adjustments are made using a three-position crown, with the exception of quick adjustments for months and leap years, which are performed by an invisible corrector under the ledge at 1 o’clock, which can be adjusted with the tip of a finger.
The price of the F.P.Journe Quantième Perpetuel watch is 69,600 Swiss francs in 18K gold and 73,500 Swiss francs in platinum.
