Harry Winston Collections 2020

The Harry Winston 2020 collections combine a sporty and elegant style. Made in white and rose gold, the two versions of the Ocean Biregrade 36mm sport mother-of-pearl dials and round shiny diamonds on the 18-carat case. Diamonds are placed around the entire perimeter of the watch, on the lugs and subciferblats, totaling 199 stones.

The largest circular dial displays the hours and minutes. The retrograde second hand is displayed at 8 o’clock, and the other retrograde scale shows the days of the week at 4 o’clock. The date is displayed through a round window at the 6 o’clock position.

The retrograde seconds are displayed by resetting the arrow to its original position every half minute. The day of the week indicator makes a sharp jump when Sunday switches to Monday at midnight.

The elegance of the watch is related not only to the precious stones used, but also to the complexity in which the mother-of-pearl is layered to create a stepped dial. The sporty character of the watch is emphasized by the presence of a metal bracelet along with an alligator leather strap.

An alternative to the Ocean Biregrade Automatic 36 this year is the Biregrade Black &White. They are extrapolated from the above versions of the mother-of-pearl dial, with black details on the outer tracks of the main dial and three auxiliary dials. This is achieved by varnishing.

The two versions of the Biregrade Black & White Automatic 36mm can be easily distinguished by the inclusion or exclusion of lacquered details on the optional time display dial.

In addition to the black and white theme, there is a selection of straps that the manufactory offers for watches: a new sports rubber strap, matched in color. The Ocean Biregrade Black & White Automatic 36 mm watch will be released in a limited edition of 100 pieces for each version.

The Harry Winston Zalium family of watches, made of a proprietary aluminum and zirconium alloy, was joined in 2020 by the 14th model Project Z14. The Z14 uses extensive skeletonization on the dial and angular shapes in the overall design of the watch, giving it a very rugged, muscular look. There is a grid pattern on the black dial indicating the time.

At the bottom right is a 30-second retrograde arch, displayed in transparent blue, with a red arrow highlighted. In addition to the readings, the dial is interesting for the shapes that are used to create levels and depth in black and gray, which ultimately allows the wearer to look at the HW2202 caliber that powers the watch.

The Premier collection by Harry Winston has attracted the most attention this year, presenting the largest number of new items. The new models are presented in three thematic variations.

The first model is the Majestic Art Deco Automatic 36mm. The design of the dial clearly corresponds to the era mentioned in the watch’s name. The manufactory uses a monochromatic approach with mother-of-pearl and glossy black jade. The dial is made in marquetry technique. The pattern inside the white base dial creates a contrasting fan motif that ultimately draws attention to the black jade section in the center.

Next, Harry Winston introduced two additions to the Premier Kaleidoscope line: Premier Kaleidoscope Automatic 36mm and Premier Precious Kaleidoscope Automatic 36mm. The line was introduced into the regular catalog only last year, and it is safe to say that it is quite good. In 2020, two more new items will be added to it.

The Premier Kaleidoscope Automatic 36mm includes watches that are equipped with 18-carat gold dials and then coated with a layer of white mother-of-pearl. Next, mother-of-pearl is applied over the geometric lace again.

In addition to the diamonds, which are easy to spot in each version, the luxurious design on the dial is surprisingly achieved by colored mother-of-pearl with beads.

Another example is the Premier Precious Kaleidoscope Automatic 36mm in two versions, each limited to 5 pieces each. Here, the process of decorating the dial is similar to the Premier Kaleidoscope Automatic 36mm, except that the watch uses real gems on top of beaded mother-of-pearl.

The 18-carat white gold version features cabochons of mother-of-pearl with blue beads, 72 Paraiba blue tourmalines, six Marquise-cut green emeralds, 12 pear-cut diamonds and 40 round-cut diamonds. The 18-carat rose gold version uses citrine, blue and white mother-of-pearl cabochons, carnelian, six orange marquise-cut spessarites, six pear-cut diamonds, 12 fiery red marquise-cut rubies, six elongated baguette-cut diamonds, six shiny green tsavorites and, finally, 150 white diamonds to create a luxurious dial.

The next novelty in the Premier collection is the Premier Lotus Automatic 36mm. The lotus flower has long served as an inspiration for the jewelry house. The dial is decorated with a floral motif of white diamonds, mother-of-pearl petals are combined and set at different angles, forming three-dimensional floral sculptures. The illusion of ripples of water, created by creating thin lines on a delicate background of mother-of-pearl, attracts attention. A large emerald-cut diamond crowns the Harry Winston inscription on the dial at the 12 o’clock position as a tribute to Winston’s beloved diamond.

Harry Winston Premier Hypnotic Chrysanthemum Automatic 36mm is an example of fine watchmaking and jewelry. The novelty is presented in two versions – blue and turquoise.

Opals combined with white diamonds are used to create the chrysanthemum that adorns the dial. The 3D flower effect is achieved by superimposing 60 baguette-cut diamonds on an 18-carat gold base. By layering stones of different sizes, jewelers bring these works of art to life.
